Systems Engineer

The Company

Ingles Markets began in 1963 as a single supermarket and has since grown into a regional grocery store chain with just under 200 retail locations operating in 6 southeastern states, a 1.6-million-square foot distribution center, two truck fleets, and a milk processing plant. Ingles Markets’ headquarters and distribution center are located just 15 minutes outside of Asheville, NC in the town of Black Mountain.

The Team

We are a lean team that services 27,000 employees across 6 states. We work hard as a collective to ensure everything is accomplished, even if it is not in our job description. While we do take things seriously, we like to have fun while we are doing it, so we can create the most impact and difference in our community.

The Position

The Systems Engineer is responsible for designing, implementing, and managing complex hardware systems and infrastructure that support the functioning of the company’s technological environment. The Systems Engineer plays a crucial role in ensuring the seamless operation, performance, and reliability of hardware networks, while considering both technical and business requirements. This team member collaborates with teams across the company, contributes to system deployments and troubleshooting, integrates security best practices, and ensures uptime and availability of systems. This is a hybrid remote working position, with weekly visits to the office needed.

The Candidate

The ideal candidate will be self-motivated, able to work with minimal supervision effectively and efficiently, and have strong time management, organizational, and customer service skills. Candidates should have a bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related field and have 5+ years of experience in an IT related field. The candidate should have multiple years of experience designing and implementing complex hardware systems.  Should have knowledge of HA/Clustering/DR design, network communications, and virtualization and/or cloud infrastructure.
