The Company

Ingles Markets began in 1963 as a single supermarket and has since grown into a regional grocery store chain with just under 200 retail locations operating in 6 southeastern states, a 1.6-million-square foot distribution center, two truck fleets, and a milk processing plant. Ingles Markets’ headquarters and distribution center are located just 15 minutes outside of Asheville, NC in the town of Black Mountain.

The Position

The Transportation Backhaul Coordinator is responsible for the management and development of the company’s backhaul. They are responsible for generating revenue and profit growth by filling empty miles and increasing the utilization of company fleets. The coordinator works closely with operators, vendors, and management to ensure backhaul operations are successful. The coordinator is also the point of contact for resolving issues. This position is based in the corporate office and will need to be on-call occasionally.

The Candidate

The ideal candidate will be self-motivated, able to work with minimal supervision effectively and efficiently, and have strong time management, organizational, and customer service skills. Candidates must have a high school diploma or higher and have intermediate computer/office skills, with experience in Office 356 applications. Transportation and logistics work experience is required.
