DSD Accounts Payable Clerk

Ingles Markets’ headquarters and distribution center are located just 15 minutes outside of Asheville, NC in the town of Black Mountain.

The Position
The DSD Accounts Payable Clerk is responsible for processing and verifying invoices across departments including Meat, Frozen, Deli, Bakery, and Starbucks. This role ensures accurate pricing, timely vendor payments, and proper documentation of financial transactions. The position also supports inventory coordination, maintains compliance with approval procedures, and provides administrative support to ensure smooth daily operations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Open and sort incoming mail; organize invoices for Meat, Frozen, Deli, Bakery, and Starbucks departments.
- Enter invoices and store transfer data accurately and in a timely manner.
- Review vendor statements for accuracy, resolve discrepancies, and secure proper approvals prior to payment.
- Monitor price points to ensure the company is correctly charged for goods and services.
- Prevent duplicate payments by researching prior transactions.
- Provide purchase and transfer information to inventory clerks as needed.
- Match and file supporting documentation for invoice payments.
- Prepare accrual data for quarterly and year-end reporting.
- Distribute vendor checks to the appropriate DSD departments.
- Respond promptly and professionally to vendor inquiries and correspondence.
- Maintain organized files and ensure proper storage of financial records.
- Perform general administrative tasks such as filing, mail distribution, and supporting team needs.
- Adhere to all company policies and applicable health, safety, and compliance regulations.
- Carry out additional duties as assigned.
The Ideal Candidate:
- High School diploma or equivalent required.
- 0-2 years of experience in accounting or comparable field is preferred.
- High degree of organization with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver assignments by stated deadlines.
- Must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills, as well as strong organizational, time management, and prioritization skills.
- Must be flexible and able to adapt to changing needs especially during times of high volume and/or stress.
- Must have knowledge of Excel.
- Must be able to exchange accurate information with coworkers, associates, and customers.
- Must be able to remain in a stationary position.
- Must be able to operate a computer and office equipment.
