Ingles Markets began in 1963 as a single supermarket and has since grown into a regional grocery store chain with just under 200 retail locations operating in 6 southeastern states, a 1.6-million-square foot distribution center, two truck fleets, and a milk processing plant. Ingles Markets’ headquarters and distribution center are located just 15 minutes outside of Asheville, NC in the town of Black Mountain.

The Position
Ingles Markets is dedicated to fostering a positive and inclusive work environment. We are seeking an HR Manager to join our team and lead the efforts in HR, focusing on employee relations and EEOC compliance. The HR Manager will play a crucial role in ensuring that our workplace is fair, respectful, and compliant with all relevant laws and regulations. You will be responsible for managing employee relations issues, conducting investigations, and implementing policies and procedures that promote a positive work environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee and manage employee relations programs and initiatives.
- Conduct thorough investigations into employee complaints and grievances.
- Ensure compliance with EEOC regulations and other employment laws.
- Site visits to various retail locations across 6 states.
- Develop and implement HR policies and procedures
- Provide guidance and support to managers and employees on HR-related issues
- Monitor and report on HR trends and issues.
- Collaborate with other HR team members to support overall HR goals and objectives.
The Ideal Candidate:
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field preferred.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in HR, with a focus on employee relations and EEOC compliance.
- PHR/SHRM-CP (or higher) preferred.
- Valid driver's license required.
- Strong knowledge of EEOC regulations and employment laws.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion and objectivity
- Strong problem-solving and conflict resolution skills.
- Available to travel to retail locations across 6 states. Occasional overnight travel may be required.
- Experience in developing and implementing HR policies and procedures that are compliant with U.S laws and regulations (ADA, ADEA, FMLA, OSHA, FLSA, EEOC) and applicable state laws.
