The Company

Ingles Markets began in 1963 as a single supermarket and has since grown into a regional grocery store chain with just under 200 retail locations operating in 6 southeastern states, a 1.6-million-square foot distribution center, two truck fleets, and a milk processing plant. Ingles Markets’ headquarters and distribution center are located just 15 minutes outside of Asheville, NC in the town of Black Mountain.

The Position

The Windows Administrator plays a critical role in maintaining and optimizing Windows-based physical and virtual servers across our enterprise environment. You will leverage your deep knowledge of VMware Horizon and Windows systems to design, deploy, and support infrastructure that ensures high availability, security, and scalability. The ideal candidate will also drive automation to enhance system administration processes, improving efficiency and reducing manual intervention.  This is a hybrid working position and will require in person visits to the office.

Key Responsibilities:

• Manage and maintain the stability, security, and scalability of Windows-based systems, both physical and virtual.
• Design, deploy, configure, and troubleshoot VMware Horizon-based Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI) solutions to ensure performance and scalability.
• Research, design, and implement automation strategies using tools such as PowerShell to improve processes like software installation, monitoring, and configuration management.
• Administer Active Directory (AD) and Group Policy, including security policy design, access management, and troubleshooting.
• Install and configure servers and hardware per project/operational requirements.
• Perform regular system health checks, verifying hardware integrity and server resource availability.
• Provide tier-2 technical support for system issues and escalations.
• Document installation and configuration procedures for repeatability and standardization.

The Ideal Candidate:

• 7+ years of experience as a Windows Administrator in an enterprise environment.
• Deep expertise in VMware Horizon, vCenter, and related technologies.
• Experience with advanced troubleshooting and performance tuning for VMware Horizon, VDI, and Windows Servers.
• Strong experience with Windows Server setup, deployment, and maintenance.
• In-depth knowledge of Active Directory and Group Policy management.
• Experience with process automation using scripting languages (e.g., PowerShell).
• Strong written and verbal communication skills to clearly explain technical concepts to non-technical users and write comprehensive documentation.
• Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams to deliver technical solutions that align with business needs.
• Knowledge of security best practices for Windows servers and virtual environments, including patch management and vulnerability remediation.
• Must live in AL, GA, NC, SC, TN or VA.
