District HR Coordinator - District 4

The Company

Ingles Markets began in 1963 as a single supermarket and has since grown into a regional grocery store chain with just under 200 retail locations operating in 6 southeastern states, a 1.6-million-square foot distribution center, two truck fleets, and a milk processing plant. Ingles Markets’ headquarters and distribution center are located just 15 minutes outside of Asheville, NC in the town of Black Mountain.

The Position

Our District HR Coordinators serve as representatives for assigned stores, providing guidance, support, and feedback to store management and associates. You will partner with the District Manager, HR Department, and store leaders to support district needs, company initiatives, and training rollouts. This position also assists with training responsibilities and other related projects as assigned.

 

Territory: District 4, including stores in and around Asheville, Hendersonville, Fletcher, Franklin, and Cashiers, as well as surrounding areas. Regular travel between store locations is required.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the development, oversight, and evaluation of training programs to improve adherence and lasting follow through of Company standards at store level.
  • Obtain, organize, and develop training procedure manuals, guides, and course materials, such as handouts or visual materials; conduct trainings alongside created materials at various company seminars/functions.
  • Guide managers and associates on human resources related matters, ensuring alignment with company policies, goals, and objectives.
  • Address associate relations issues and conduct investigations, providing guidance and resolutions to situations which may occur.
  • Conduct customer service training in locations where competition is opening or where otherwise needed; follow up as needed to ensure effective training.
  • Assist Store Management with hiring by participating in large-scale hiring events. Troubleshoot first-tier candidate issues with store management.
  • Coordinate and assist the Risk Management and Safety staff by conducting semi-annual safety inspections and quarterly meetings with store Safety Coordinators.
  • Train store leaders on new systems implemented within the stores including HRIS systems and POS systems. Following rollouts of programs, support and additional training is provided as needed.
  • Ensure stores are following all federal, state, and local laws and regulations.
  • Observe and train personnel on all company rules, customer service standards, policies, and procedures.
  • Work with store personnel on all company rules and guidelines, particularly through department management, to ensure proper implementation of training.
  • Provide explanations regarding benefit details to associates.
  • Complete department, corporate reports and documents in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Assist in set-up and training at new stores or remodels prior to official store opening date conducting hiring fairs, orientation, training, scheduling, and first few days of Grand Opening.
  • Proctor Food Safety examinations.
  • Monitor participants of our internal leadership program to ensure training is on schedule.
  • Test leadership participants on Front-End/Compliance related topics.
  • Perform other duties, assignments and projects as directed.

 

The Ideal Candidate:

  • Must have a high school diploma or equivalent; however, a Bachelor's degree in a business-related field is preferred. Relevant work experience may be substituted for a Bachelor's degree.
  • 3-5 years of experience in training/development in a retail setting or a management position in an Ingles Markets Store or comparable field is preferred.
  • Must be an independent worker and self-starter requiring a minimum of supervision.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills along with the ability to create and execute presentations to individuals or groups.
  • Basic knowledge of store operations, specifically front-end operations.
  • Experience in handling associate relations, customer service and/or training.
  • Must possess the math skills necessary to supervise and handle sales transactions, tender change, and basic office and bookkeeping procedures.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and make quick decisions with limited supervision.
  • Human Resources certification is a plus.
  • Experience with HRIS, timekeeping, and ATS systems.
  • Experience with basic computer skills (email, voicemail, internet/intranet, etc.)
  • Ability to draft professional communications such as letters, memos, policies, agendas, and emails.
  • Strong organizational, time management and prioritization skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Must be flexible and have a willingness to travel locally within the district much of the work week.
  • The ability to speak or present in front of large audiences.
